Tadeusz Kosciuszko in a brown civilian frock coat. Half-figure, three-quarters right. Dark hair, grey eyes. White cravat, red collar and vest lapels, brown frock coat. Background greyish, darker at the bottom, lightened around the figure. Medallion frame of oval gilded bronze, glazed on both sides; both glasses thick and convex, broken into six pieces. Engraved on the frame: Faithful love with an oath joined together in my heart, engraved with this will be the expression of the Day of 15. 7. 1800. On the reverse under the glass: a braid of blond hair and a tied monogram /PG/. Portrait dated 1800, Poland. Miniature, height 6.5 cm, width 5.0 cm. Unknown painter. Subjects: costumes, portraits en three-quarters, men, soldiers, Polish miniatures; iconography: Kosciuszko, Tadeusz 1746–1817; nobility., An oval pendant with a gold-colored metal frame and hanging loop encloses a dark, glossy insert that shows several radial cracks and surface scratches; the insert has faint gold-colored decorative swirls and small patches of worn, lighter material, set against a solid gray background.
