Men of letters; portrait in three-quarters; male portrait; Polish miniature; Member of the Kollataj Kuznica, prepared and contributed to hastening the outbreak of the uprising in 1794. Half-length figure, three-quarter facing right; black hair in short locks; balding forehead; blue eyes; decisive facial features; sunburnt complexion. At the neck a black cravat tied with a bow, white shirt, sandy vest, black frock coat. Background brick red, lightened around the head. Binding: gilded bronze strip with palmette and laurel leaf motif in a brown leather case frame decorated with embossed and gilded classicist ornaments. Inscription lower right: Marszalkie....... Date: 1840; Place of origin: Poland. Medium: miniature; Height: 12.0 cm; Width: 9.0 cm., A framed painted portrait of a man with light skin and short curly brown hair, shown from the waist up against an orange background; he wears a black coat, a dark bow tie, and a white shirt with a visible dark vest beneath, and his expression appears neutral. The portrait is surrounded by a gold inner frame with detailed decorative molding, which sits inside a wider brown outer mat that has ornate gold scrollwork and floral embellishments at the corners and edges. The visible colors include orange, brown, black, white, gold, and shades of skin tone and muted green in the vest.
