Dark green uniform tailcoat, sabre in right hand. Background: tree and thicket on the right, landscape and sky on the left. Binding: convex gilt bronze bar, no glass. Bottom right: Malcz. On the reverse of the binding: Sulkowski? / Jablonowski? / signed / Malcz / horse artillery officer. 1810, Poland, miniature, height 7.2 cm, width 7.0 cm., A small framed painted portrait of a young man shown from the waist up wearing a dark green military coat with gold shoulder epaulettes and red trim, a high white collar and a black cravat; he has light brown wavy hair, a small mustache, and a fair complexion with a thoughtful expression while holding a sword with a gold hilt and a blue blade; the background shows a blue sky with tree branches and foliage in dark brown and green, and a distant rocky landscape in muted grays and tans; the painting is set in a gold frame with a round hanging loop at the top, and the outer background around the frame is gray.
