Prince Ernest I of Saxe-Coburg-Gotha 1784–1844 in a general's uniform of the Austrian army, formerly attributed Prince of Schwarzenberg; miniature 1814–1815, height 4.6 cm, width 3.3 cm. Shoulder-length, 3/4 left, almost en face; curly brown hair, brown eyes, white shirt collar, black neck scarf. White Austrian army uniform with collar and fastening trimmed in gold braid. Around the neck: red cross on a red ribbon of the Russian Order of St. Alexander Nevsky; below it the Prussian Order of the Red Eagle. On the chest: Russian Order of St. George, 4th Class; Saxon Order of St. Henry; Austrian Cannon Cross; and five stars of the Austrian Hungarian Order of St. Stephen, Russian Order of St. Andrew, Saxon Order of St. Henry, Saxon Order of the Rue Crown, and Prussian Order of the Black Eagle. Right shoulder bears the red ribbon with green edges and star of the Order of St. Stephen. Background gray-brown. Binding: gilded bronze, narrow rim. Handwritten German inscription on the reverse reads Soll ein/Furst Schwarzenberg/sein misleading; attribution recognized as Prince Ernest of Saxe-Coburg by Lukasz Gaszewski., A small oval pendant with a gold frame hangs from a gold loop and an attached dark gold tag; inside the frame is a painted portrait of a man with curly brown hair, light skin, and light brown eyes, shown from the shoulders up against a gray background, wearing a high collar with gold detailing and a coat decorated with a sash and several ornate medals and star-shaped badges in colors including gold, red, green, blue, white, and black.
