Portrait of Zofia Radziwillówna post 1672–post 1690, Visitationist nun, unknown Polish painter. Oval portrait surrounded by a laurel wreath inscribed within the image rectangle. Within the oval: half-length, turned slightly to the left, a nun in a black habit and a black veil worn over a white bonnet, close-fitting to the head, and in front with a plastron covering the neck. Oval, plump face with regular features. Around the neck is a cross with the IHS monogram. The background in the oval is gray-brown, smooth. The portrait rests on the back and outstretched wings of a black eagle with a princely mitre on its head and the Traby coat of arms on its chest. In its beak the eagle holds the Jastrzebiec coat of arms, and in its talons a white ribbon with a four-line Latin inscription identifying the portrayed person. The background outside the oval is gray-brown, a shade lighter than in the portrait. In the lower left corner, in white paint: 112, in the right: N 53. Dated 1733–1737. Oil on panel, height 108.5 cm, width 73.3 cm., A painted portrait of a woman wearing a black habit and a white wimple and collar, shown from the chest up within an oval wreath; her face is pale with light skin tones, brown eyes, and brown hair partly covered by the headpiece, and she wears a small pendant cross on a chain over the front of her habit; the wreath around her is brown with gold highlights, the background is dark olive and brown, and the lower area shows a dark winged emblem with accents of red, green, and gold.
