Portrait of Nicholas III Radziwill known as Amor Poloniae ca. 1470–1521, unknown Polish painter. Oval portrait with a laurel wreath incorporated into the rectangle of the painting. Within the oval: bust, turned three-quarters to the left, of a grey-haired man with short hair, beard and mustache, wearing a red coat with a wide ermine fur collar fastened with six rosette-shaped buttons. Background in the oval is plain pink-grey. In the upper left corner in white paint: N 190. Oval portrait rests on the back of a black eagle with spread wings, a princely mitre on its head and the Traby coat of arms on its chest. In its beak the eagle holds an illegible coat of arms three vertical signs on a blue field; in its talons a white ribbon with a Latin inscription. Background of the composition is gray-blue, smooth, becoming brownish-reddish in the lower part where 19th-century repaintings remain. Dated 1733–1737; painting; height 103 cm, width 81.5 cm., A painted portrait of a man shown from the waist up inside an oval frame, wearing a white fur-trimmed cloak with dark spots and ornamental buttons, a ruffled collar, and a grey beard and mustache; his face has a pale complexion with reddish cheeks and he has closely cropped hair. The oval frame is brown and gold, set against a dark brown background. Below the portrait there is a dark panel with a black two-headed eagle or bird motif and a ribbon-like scroll in a beige or tan color. Visible colors include brown, gold, white, black, grey, beige, pale pink, red, and muted green.
