Portrait of Nicholas IV Radziwill ca. 1496–1529/30, Bishop of Samogitia, unknown Polish painter. Oval portrait with a laurel wreath incorporated into the painting's rectangle. Within the oval: half-length, turned 3/4 to the left, a young clergyman in a finely gathered white robe alb?, with a lace stand-up collar and a red cloak with brown fur lining, wearing a round red hat with a wide fur rim. On the chest is a cross on a gold chain. Expressive, harmonious features, a hint of stubble above the mouth. The oval background: green-beige, smooth. The portrait rests on the back of a black eagle with spread wings, with a ducal mitre on its head, a crosier in its right paw, and the Traby coat of arms on its chest. In its beak it holds the Pólkozice Nasilowskie coat of arms, and in its left paw a white ribbon with a Latin inscription. The composition background is bluish-gray, smooth. On the face of the painting are numbers in white paint: bottom left 17, top right 191. Dated 1733–1737. Oil on panel, 110 x 75 cm., A painted portrait of a person shown from the torso up inside an oval frame, wearing a dark fur collar and a red robe with visible folds, a black wide-brimmed hat, and a pleated white garment beneath a decorative high collar; the person has pale skin, dark hair visible under the hat, neutral facial expression with dark eyes and reddish lips. The oval frame has a laurel-like pattern in brown and gold tones and sits against a dark olive-green background within a larger muted dark gray rectangular field. A gold chain with a pendant hangs over the white garment, and a black wing-like shape with a few small shield-like objects in red, blue, and gold appears near the lower edge of the oval. The painting is set in a simple gold-colored outer frame and includes areas of brown, black, red, olive green, white, gold, blue, and muted gray.
