In the foreground a woman in a dark teal dress kneels with hands clasped near a small swaddled infant lying on cloth and straw; nearby a kneeling figure wearing a white and pink robe with wings holds a cloth and faces the infant, while a smaller winged child in a gold and red outfit also kneels with hands together. To the left a bearded man in a red robe watches, and behind the central group two men stand, one wearing a red cap and pale yellow garment holding a staff and the other in a darker tunic and cloak holding a bagpipe. Above the scene two flying angels with pink and white garments hover, and in the middle background a few animals including an ox are visible near ruined stone architecture and arches; through an arch on the right there is a distant hilly landscape. The painting’s colors include gold, teal, dark green, red, pink, white, brown, and pale blue.
