Casket case. Rectangular wooden box covered with red velvet, with gold thread trimmings on the edges. Crosspieces have bronze openwork overlays. Side walls have gilded bronze handles; top has a decorative overlay in the middle with a rank crown. Front wall has a decorative overlay serving as a lock plate; keyhole preserved. Interior lined with light green silk. Early 19th century; 18th century, Italy, Florence. Chest. Height 39.5 cm; width 56.7 cm; depth 47.5 cm., A worn rectangular box covered in faded red fabric with decorative dark trim and a group of ornate metal appliques in a gold color placed at corners and centers; the fabric shows areas of wear with lighter, scraped sections and frayed edges, and a few strands of fiber are visible along a seam; the trim has a textured, patterned appearance in a dark grayish tone, and there is a metal handle in a gold color on one side; the background is a smooth light gray surface and backdrop.
