Vase with lid, Prószków Slaski faience factory; 1763–1853. Classicist oval vase on a low, hooped foot with a tall, domed lid. The rim is framed by a thick, plastic laurel garland whose loops hang from the shorter sides to form flat handles. The lid handle consists of vertically raised scrolls of the garland tied in the middle with a three-strand bow. Colorful floral decoration: festoons of small flowers tied with bows and bouquets including a rose, a bud of a blooming poppy and small flowers. Dated 1770–1783. Place of origin: Silesia, Province of Silesia. Measurements — vase: height 15.5 cm, width 27 cm, length 36 cm; lid: height 19 cm, width 21.2 cm, length 30 cm., An oval ceramic vessel seen from above with a smooth pale interior and a rim that has slight chips, surrounded by an outer surface textured to resemble woven material in shades of green and black, with two small handles on opposite sides that show accents of white and reddish-purple; the background is a flat gray.
