Rim of vase and lid with gilded relief rocaille decoration. Two painted miniatures on bowl and two on lid after engravings by W. Hogarth?: lid—park scenes: 1 three men in 18th-century costume seated at a table with a vase and glasses; 2 three men at a table, one standing. Bowl—park scenes: 1 six people at a round table with glasses and pipes, one reclining before the table; 2 seven people at a table, singing, smoking pipes and conversing. 4th quarter of the 18th century, Berlin, Germany. Vase: height 27.5 cm; width 28 cm., A rounded white ceramic covered bowl sits centered against a neutral gray background, the lid topped with sculpted lemon halves and a small green stem in pale yellow and green tones. The bowl and lid feature hand-painted landscape motifs in shades of green, brown, and muted red, with delicate gold decorative trim around the rim and subtle gold flourishes along the upper edge. The overall palette includes white, gray, yellow, green, brown, muted red, and gold.
