Sugar bowl with lid from a tea service set. Cylindrical sugar bowl with slatted handles, double-folded on the outside, with a recessed flat lid with a tripartite slatted handle. Brown-chocolate body with a colourful ornament featuring a stylised palmette motif and a gilding trail of leafy volute-palmette styles around the edges. On the side, a colourful miniature with an antique-style scene: a seated naked man wearing a crown, with a red drapery draped over his hip, and a woman in a light robe standing next to him with her left hand outstretched. Small golden flower sprigs on the brown belly; handles and lid handle gilded. Imitation, gilding, mythological subject. Early 20th century. Possibly Vienna or Czech Republic. Vessel; height 11 cm, width 10.5 cm, depth 16 cm., A brown ceramic lidded container with two gold-toned handles and a matching arched gold-toned lid handle sits on a gray surface against a gray background; the body and lid feature ornate gold scrollwork and decorative motifs, a band of multicolored enamel decoration in green, pink, cream, and red around the top, and a painted scene on the front showing a figure in white and yellow robes standing and a figure in red drapery seated, with small gold floral accents scattered on the brown surface.
