Around the edges of the side walls, lid, and bottom are gilded rocaille frames for colorful miniatures with animal fairy tales: 1 a squirrel and a pug in a bonnet and cape, smoking pipes and drinking coffee, with a landscape and architecture in the background; 2 a dog as a hunter with a pipe and two hares on a leash, landscape background; 3 drunken animals feasting at a table with a pulled tablecloth: a goose, a wild boar, and a fox, with landscape background; 4 a parrot on a pole beside a cage, with landscape background. In the reserves on the side walls are miniature waterside landscapes. Inside the lid is a colorful miniature portrait of a young lady in a cape, half-length, against beige drapery partially obscuring a column. The miniature is painted in pastel colors in a pointillist style, dated to the third quarter of the 18th century, Saxony Meissen. Porcelain snuffbox. Height 5.3 cm, width 9 cm, depth 6.4 cm., A small square box with a hinged lid sits against a gray background, the box made of white porcelain decorated with painted scenes and ornate gilt scrollwork; the lid and sides show a landscape scene with a house, trees, and water rendered in muted greens, browns, purples, and blues, while the gilt edging around the lid and scrollwork is metallic gold and the hinge appears brass-colored.
