Snuffbox tin, Koenigliche Porzellan Manufaktur KPM; Berlin; 1763–1918. Snuffbox in the form of a rectangular box with a slightly arched lid, framed in gilded bronze, with a plant ornament around the outer edge of the lid and a lock, on hinges. Around the edge of the lid and the side walls of the tin there is a relief with rocaille and floral motifs. On the lid, the bottom of the base and each of the side walls: colorful fruit and floral compositions including blackcurrant, fig, mirabelle plum or redcurrant, and plums. Inside the lid: a colorful composition with a bouquet of flowers in a cup-shaped brown vase on a stone tabletop with fruit and a sprig of raspberry flowers; on the edge of the tabletop a small bird sparrow? nibbling a leaf, above two butterflies flying. Ca. 1765–1770. Porcelain haberdashery snuffbox. Germany; Berlin. Height 3.2 cm, width 8.3 cm, depth 6 cm., A rectangular white porcelain box with embossed decorative borders sits against a gray background, showing a painted central still-life of fruit and flowers in colors including purple, pink, yellow, green, blue, red, black, and brown; the painted arrangement features a purple rose-like flower, small blue flowers, green leaves, yellow round fruit, clusters of red berries, a sliced yellow fruit with a pale interior, and two dark oval fruits, with a thin metallic hinge and trim along the top edge in a gold tone.
