Snuffbox tin, Koenigliche Porzellan Manufaktur KPM; Berlin; 1763–1918. Snuffbox in the form of a rectangular box with a slightly arched lid, framed in gilded bronze, with a plant ornament around the outer edge of the lid and a lock, on hinges. Around the edge of the lid and the side walls of the tin there is a relief with rocaille and floral motifs. On the lid, the bottom of the base and each of the side walls are painted with colorful fruit and floral compositions including blackcurrant, fig, mirabelle plum or redcurrant, and plums. Inside the lid is a painted composition of a bouquet of flowers in a cup-shaped brown vase on a stone tabletop with fruit and a sprig of raspberry flowers; on the edge of the tabletop a small bird sparrow? nibbles a leaf, above two butterflies flying. Ca. 1765–1770. Germany, Berlin. Porcelain haberdashery snuffbox. Height 3.2 cm; width 8.3 cm; depth 6 cm., A small rectangular decorative box sits centered against a gray background, with a white porcelain body and a slightly domed lid edged in an ornate gold metal band. The porcelain shows painted fruit motifs in colors including orange, yellow, green, purple, and black on both the lid and the front panel, and the lid surface has raised white scrollwork details. The gold band around the lid has a patterned relief texture and a small clasp on one side. The surface beneath the box produces a subtle reflection in shades of gray.
