Subject and decoration: coats of arms — coat of arms of the Polish–Lithuanian Commonwealth and Saxony displayed on the chest of an imperial eagle beneath a crown; engraved inscription above the edge decoration: AUGUSTUS III rex Pol. El. Sax. et SRI Vicarius; above the coat of arms the date Ao 1745 and number 11. Function: court fanfare Naturtrompete belonging to the fanfare complex of the office of the main marshal of the court Oberhofmarschallamt. Maker and marks: no builder's signature, no goldsmith's mark; reportedly part of a set of six instruments made by Riedel and goldsmith Heinrich Christian Ingelman, dated 1745. Date: 1745. Dimensions: height 68.6 cm; width 11.3 cm; depth 11.3 cm., An ornate long brass and silver-colored metal instrument with a curved U-shaped top and a flared bell at the bottom stands vertically against a plain light gray background, showing a few slender tubular rods connected by several decorative ribbed and twisted cylindrical fittings in a gold-toned color, a rounded ornate knob-like joint with engraved floral motifs on one rod, and a flared bell with intricate raised floral and scrolling relief work at its rim; the metal surfaces show a combination of shiny silver and warm gold tones and there is a soft reflection of the instrument visible on the glossy surface beneath it.
