Four medallions set against a rococo latticework – a miniature portrait of Tsar Alexander II in ceremonial military uniform with epaulettes and a blue ribbon, the Tsar's monogram, and the Tsar's double-headed eagle on the other two. Gilded floral and plant elements. A gap at the base, worn gilding. Made 1869, St. Petersburg, Russia. Porcelain vessel, height 49.5 cm, width 22 cm. Modeller: August Karlowicz 1817–1904. Manufacturer: Imperial Porcelain Factory in St. Petersburg 1744–1917., A decorative ceramic vessel with an elongated, bulbous body and a tall neck topped by a domed lid sits against a plain gray background; the vessel is primarily white with ornate gold accents and raised decorative patterns, including scrollwork, floral motifs, and a framed heraldic double-headed eagle medallion on the body, a textured lattice pattern on the white surface, gilt bands and leaf-like ornamentation around the neck and base, and a polished gold rim at the foot.
