Two princesses, the so-called Prinzessinnengruppe, Koenigliche Porzellan Manufaktur KPM; Berlin; 1763–1918, sculptor Johann Gottfried Schadow 1764–1850. Double portraits in sculpture of Luise von Mecklenburg-Strelitz 1776–1810 and Friedrich von Mecklenburg-Strelitz 1778–1841. On a flat rectangular base, two young women with arms around each other in long, antique-style dresses made of thin, draped fabric under the bust Luize, wearing sandals, with curling, mid-length, center-parted hair. Luize puts her arm around her sister, resting her hand on her left shoulder; with her right, lowered hand she supports the folds of her dress. Fryderyka embraces her sister from behind around the waist, her left hand grasping her sister's arm. Ca. 1795–1796, Berlin, Germany. Sculpture; height 55.0 cm, width 35.0 cm, depth 19.5 cm., A rectangular, shallow white form with a rough, carved surface and irregular hollowed depressions occupies the image, showing a concave upper section and a lower section separated by a dark cavity. The surface displays a few areas of yellowish discoloration and some faint brownish stains, with small patches of darker gray soiling. Two small block-like pieces rest within the central hollow, appearing off-white with rough edges. The background around the rectangular object is a neutral gray.
