At the bottom, Paris, lost in thought. 19th/20th century. Staffordshire, Stoke-on-Trent, England. Vase. Height 26.6 cm; width 19 cm. Maker: Wedgwood, Josiah 1730–1795., A dark vase with a wide neck and two handles features raised white relief figures and foliage around its lower body; the relief shows a reclining figure, a few standing figures with draped cloths, and a winged cherub among stylized trees and leaves. The vase is primarily black with white decorative elements, set against a neutral gray background.
