Pot-pourri vase with lid by Johann Georg Buchwald Cologne; 1769–1771. Porcelain vessel with a hemispherical body slightly narrowing at the top, almost flat shoulders, and a wide obliquely sloping neck; low stem widening into a round, wide foot. Neck, base of the belly, and foot are bordered by a wreath of applied shell ornament painted purple. Two painted landscapes with buildings amid trees on the body. Hat-like cover with brim enclosed in shell ornament; top features applied colorful flowers with a floral handle. Subject: flowers, pot-pourri, landscapes, architecture. Date: 1769–1771. Place: Cologne, Germany. Height 37 cm; width 26 cm., A white ceramic vase with a scalloped form and a pedestal base, decorated with painted accents in purple and brown and small painted landscape motifs in green and brown on its body, topped with a removable lid adorned with molded and painted flowers and leaves in purple, yellow, green, and blue.
