Vessel - flowerpot; cache-pot vessel; cylindrical flowerpot with profiled rollers at base and spout. Decorated throughout with a stylized fleshy plant twig in the form of an acanthus with flowers. On the front is a cartouche with a five-field coat of arms beneath a royal crown; the elaborate cartouche is supported by two lions rampant, with a griffin holding a pennant. Below the coat of arms is the date 1747. Green plant decoration with ochre flowers; blue cartouche shades from navy to light blue. A hole in the bottom for draining water. 1747. Italy, Caltagirone . Height 74 cm; width 31 cm., A cylindrical ceramic vessel with a glossy finish displaying decorative painted motifs in blue, green, white, and beige; the top rim is off-white with small brown spots and a thin blue band below it, and the body features a large central blue ornamental shield flanked by stylized leaf scrolls in green and beige, with traces of wear and chipped glazed areas exposing underlying beige clay, and a few small brown discolorations scattered across the surface.
