Shepherdess with a Sheep, Kaendler, Johann Joachim 1706–1775, sculptor; Koenigliche Porzellain Fabrique, Meissen 1710–1763, manufacturer. Figurine on an oval base with rocaille and a tree trunk with a leafy branch: a young woman in a dancing/running pose wearing a flowing flowered half-length skirt, a black-and-gold striped bodice with a small handbag tied at the back below a basque, a blouse with puffed sleeves tied at the elbow with a blue ribbon, and a red sash with long ends loosely thrown over the left shoulder and tied at the waist. Medium-length pinned-up hair falling in curls; she wears a hat with a blue ribbon. She holds a shepherd's staff upper part whipped resting on the head of a sheep lying at her feet; her head is tilted slightly left and she holds a flower whipped in her raised left hand. 19th/20th century after a model ca. 1750, Saxony; Meissen. Figurine, height 23.5 cm., A porcelain figure seen from behind wearing a wide-brimmed hat with a blue ribbon, a white blouse with blue trim at the cuffs, a striped bodice with gold accents, and a red sash across the shoulder; the skirt is white with a multicolored floral pattern and gold-edged ruffles, and a small brown satchel hangs at the waist; the figure stands on a white ornamental base with gold highlights and a tree stump element painted with green foliage, and the visible colors include white, red, blue, gold, brown, green, purple, and yellow.
