Chest of drawers; creator, revindication provenance; decorated with roses, vedute, dolphins, eagles, rosettes and geometric ornament in a classicism style; ca. 1790; Saxony; piece of furniture, storage piece; height 97 cm, width 143 cm, depth 62 cm, A wooden panel with a rectangular inset showing a stylized town scene carved or inlaid into the wood, featuring a group of buildings with towers, pitched roofs, arches, and small windows; a few trees and undulating ground surround the buildings and a few birds are sketched in the sky. Centered on the panel is an ornate metal escutcheon with a decorative, curved shape and embossed floral and scroll motifs, including a keyhole opening. The wood displays warm brown and golden tones with darker brown grain patterns and some small dark spots and blemishes, and the metal escutcheon appears silver-gray with areas of darker patina.
