Plastic ornamentation on the edges; swan-shaped feet in late Empire style one paw fragment missing. Gold-painted decoration with four genre scenes of Chinese people on the four sides; floral ornament on top of bottle and stopper; gilding abrasions. c. 1840, Russia; Wierbilki. Vessel. Height 18.5 cm; width 11.2 cm., A small ornate metal container stands against a plain gray background, featuring a polished gold-toned finish and a square body with a decorative lid and neck. The body sits on a base with four stylized feet shaped like animal paws, each foot and the frame around the panels showing intricate raised scrollwork in gold. Each visible panel has a dark brown background with a gold decorative scene depicting a standing figure in traditional attire beside stylized trees and foliage, framed by a gold border with repeating curved motifs. The lid and neck are rounded and stepped, with reflective gold surfaces and subtle decorative engraving on the lid top. Colors visible include gold and dark brown against a gray backdrop.
