Bottle with lid, porcelain factory Gardner, Francis 1766–1917. Cubic bottle with profiled short neck and square stopper. Plastic ornamentation on the edges; swan-shaped feet in late Empire style one paw fragment missing. Gold-painted decoration with four genre scenes of Chinese people on the four sides; floral ornament on the top of the bottle and stopper; gilding abrasions. Chinoiserie. c. 1840, Russia, Wierbilki. Vessel. Height 18.5 cm, width 11.2 cm., A small ornamental container with a square body and a lid, finished in metallic gold and deep brown; the lid and neck are shiny gold with rounded and flared shapes, and the body has deep brown panels decorated with gold silhouette scenes showing a standing figure, plants, and birds; the square body sits on ornate gold feet shaped like stylized animal paws, and the edges and top rim have raised gold decorative borders; visible colors include gold and deep brown against a neutral gray background.
