Jug, Orvieto ceramic center; 1450-, 16th century, Italy. Bulky jug with an ovoid belly on a low conical foot, with a wide, high cylindrical neck and a prominent triangular spout. Wide, ribbon-shaped vertical handle. Painted in cobalt and ochre with geometric and plant patterns. Front, under the spout: circular schematic rosette in cobalt alla porcellana—four-petalled leaf-flower with symmetrically arranged branches and rhombuses with double cross-stitching. On both sides of the reserve, highlighted by a yellow and ochre border, three zigzag rays in the form of flames surrounding the trigram of St. Bernard. Back: vertical stripes of green zigzags.
