Bottle, maker, Montelupo ceramics centre; ca. 1400–, pottery workshop, plant decorations, cartouches, bottles. Spherical bottle, narrowed at the top with a pressed rim, the foot slightly widening at the base. White earthenware painted in cobalt of varying saturation with loosely scattered plant motifs resembling oak leaves, flowers, and acorns. On the front of the body, a coat of arms cartouche under a banderole no inscription. The blue-and-white leaf decoration shows Venetian influence. 2nd half 16th century, Italy; Montelupo. Vessel. Height 24.5 cm, width 18.0 cm., A rounded ceramic vessel with a narrow broken neck, showing surface wear and encrusted brown deposits, painted primarily in white with blue and yellow decorative motifs; there are a few areas of brown discoloration and cracking on the surface, a band of yellow encircling the body, a central shield-like decorative element in blue framed by yellow, and scattered blue floral or foliate brushstrokes around the lower half, all set against a neutral gray background.
