Platter, Manises ceramic center; ca. 1400–, maker role/classification, mirrors decoration; geometric-floral ornament; rosettes. Round platter with a wide collar and a bulging center of the cup-shaped bottom. Decorated with four concentric bands of varying widths, filled with a geometric ornament resembling a braid composed of two intersecting zigzags. Between them are white bands with an ornament of circles and dots. Around the central disc is a trail of 4-leaf rosettes. In the center of the bottom is a rosette. On the bottom: a wavy star, a spiral and two rows of oval leaves at the edge. 16th century, Spain; Manises. Vessel. Height 5 cm, width 40 cm., A round shallow dish viewed from above with concentric circular grooves and decorative curved brushwork around the rim, showing a pale cream base color with brown painted patterns and a few areas of darker brown and rust-colored discoloration, along with some iridescent sheen and small dark spots of surface wear.
