Bookstand, origin, Hebrew; Jerusalem Israel/Palestine; pilgrimages. Rectangular bookstand with two foldable sides, decorated with three recessed Jerusalem Crosses. Under the central cross an ink inscription in Hebrew: ??????? Yerushalayim. Main part has profiled edges and can be widened by shifting the central part embedded in a groove to the right. Movable sides have a heart-shaped outline; when unfolded on brass hinges they sit almost vertically with a slight inclination and are decorated with crosses on the outer surface. 19th–20th century. Hardware. Height 12.6 cm; width 37.3 cm; depth 2.9 cm., A rectangular wooden panel with visible grain and knots rests against a smooth gray background; the wood shows warm brown tones with darker brown streaks and lighter brown patches, and a few narrow wooden strips are attached across the top and right edges creating a framed effect, while the panel surface displays subtle wavy grain patterns and areas of wear and small dark blemishes.
