Bookstand, origin unknown, Hebrew; rectangular foldable bookstand with two movable sides, decorated with three recessed Jerusalem crosses. Under the central cross an ink Hebrew inscription reads yerushalayim ???????. Main part has profiled edges and can be widened by sliding the central section in a groove to the right. Movable sides have a heart-shaped outline, unfold on brass hinges to an almost vertical, slightly inclined position, and are decorated with crosses on the outer surface. 19th–20th century, possibly Jerusalem; hardware; height 12.6 cm, width 37.3 cm, depth 2.9 cm., A wooden object with a polished brown finish rests on a flat base of the same wood; the piece has a pair of raised, paddle-shaped sections with carved geometric recesses and smooth rounded edges, connected by a central carved panel, all shown against a plain light gray background.
