Bookstand, origin unknown, Hebrew, Jerusalem Israel/Palestine; rectangular foldable bookstand with two sides, decorated with three recessed Jerusalem Crosses. Under the central cross an ink Hebrew inscription reads ??????? Yerushalayim. Main part has profiled edges and can be widened by shifting the central part embedded in a groove to the right. Movable sides have a heart-shaped outline; when unfolded on brass hinges they sit almost vertically with slight inclination and are decorated with crosses on the outer surface. 19th/20th century; hardware; height 12.6 cm, width 37.3 cm, depth 2.9 cm., A wooden object with a carved backrest featuring a symmetrical decorative motif, shown from the rear on a smooth grey background; the wood has a warm brown color with visible grain patterns and darker brown carved lines, and there are a few areas of lighter brown where the wood appears worn.
