Cup, Korzec Porcelain and Faience Manufactory; 1790–1832. Chalice-shaped cup with stepped foot and curved handle ending in a bird's head. White with a greyish hue, painted in light greens, ochres, and browns, and gilded. Front shows a romantic landscape with ruins and trees and two boulders: the larger inscribed Zaslaw and the smaller dated 1792, topped by a statue of a standing man. Back shows a slender tree with two branches, with shrubs and mosses below. Floral motifs with stylized gold petals on either side of the handle. Inscription and date indicate the site of the victorious Battle of Miropol during the Polish–Russian War following the adoption of the Constitution of May 3rd. Dated ca. 1800–1815. Place of manufacture: Korzec, Volhynian Governorate, Poland. Vessel; height 7.0 cm, width 8.5 cm, depth 7.0 cm., A white porcelain cup with a flared rim and a rounded foot sits against a gray background, the rim edged in a gold color that shows slight wear; the main painted scene on the cup shows a pale beige pedestal on a brown ground with green foliage and a tree with brown trunk and green leaves behind it, and a small standing human figure painted in muted tan and brown tones atop the pedestal, with distant pale blue-gray shapes suggesting a landscape; additional visible colors include white, gold, green, brown, tan, and gray.
