Chest of Drawers, Weiss, Jan Bogumil fl. ca. 1810–1830 carpenter, author; animal paws; Egyptians; Empire style; plant decoration; pre-war; Three-drawer cuboid chest of drawers with a wooden top; veneered with mahogany, with painted and gilded carved elements. Low legs in the form of lion's paws; above, in the front corners, carved figures of standing men on gilded plinths and headstones. The top repeats the outline of the body, with a petal-shaped rim. Cast brass lock plates in the form of a rhomboidal rosette. The walls and top are made of boards. The back is framed with a single panel. Mortice-type, single-bolt locks. 1816, Warsaw; piece of furniture, storage unit. Height 87.5 cm, width 105 cm, depth 60 cm., A wooden chest of drawers with a rich reddish-brown and warm brown varnished finish, showing visible wood grain on the drawer fronts and top, flanked at each front corner by decorative black-painted carved figures wearing gold-painted garments and headpieces; the figures rest on gold-painted carved bracket elements above gold-painted paw-shaped feet. The piece sits on a parquet wooden floor with medium brown tones and a geometric pattern, and a light cream-colored wall is visible behind the chest. The overall visible colors include reddish-brown, warm brown, black, gold, medium brown, and cream.
