Armchair, Jan Mohr fl. ca. 1825–1850 carpenter, floral decoration, Biedermeier style, mahogany. ARMCHAIR with a trapezoidal padded seat and an openwork, balloon-shaped backrest; turned, profiled front legs and angular rear legs arched backwards. Front legs shaped like a doll with rings at the bottom and a spool-shaped undercut at the top, on tapered feet. Straight, smooth frame with rounded front corners. Spring-mounted seat upholstered in fabric with wide and narrow stripes and a floral weave. S-shaped armrests and supports with padded armrests. Backrest stiles extend from the rear legs, rounded with central finials that merge into two interwoven tendrils with cup-shaped acanthus leaves. Backrest crosspiece formed by two arched links framing a circular field, edge accentuated with a half-cylinder, and mounted at the armrest junction. Date: 1840–1850. Place of origin: Kalisz. Dimensions: H 102 cm, W 60 cm, D 60 cm., An upholstered wooden armchair with a dark brown carved frame and a curved backrest featuring ornate scrollwork, a padded seat and padded armrests covered in patterned fabric in shades of beige, brown, and gold, turned front legs and a rear pair of straighter legs, visible wood grain and carved detailing on the arms and top of the back, set against a light gray background.
