Chair, Empire style mahogany chair with padded seat and backrest, upholstered with patterned velvet upholstery dated early 20th century. Early 19th century. Semicircular seat connected to an arched backrest; fluted upper frame terminating in carved and gilded ram's heads. Arched side panels smoothly connect with side frames. Front legs tilt forward, carved and gilded feet shaped like hooves; rear legs curve diagonally backward, terminating in brass clamps. Brass fittings on the front frame: central volute-shaped plant twig with a palmette and two cornucopias, with palmettes on the ankles. Non-original upholstery: silk velvet with a large net pattern of palmettes and flowers in channel-shaped frames — purple background with light yellow pattern; light yellow fabric on the back of the backrest; fabrics fastened with densely studded brass headers. Materials: mahogany, giltwood, brass, velvet. Height 80.3 cm, width 56.4 cm, depth 60.7 cm. Place of origin: Italy, and France upholstery. Repossession provenance noted; plant decoration; ram's head ornament; hooves animal legs; cornucopia ornament; palmettes., A single upholstered armchair with a curved wooden frame and carved wooden legs, covered in deep burgundy and magenta patterned velvet fabric; the wood finish appears dark brown with polished sheen, and there are several decorative gold-colored metal accents including sculpted animal head ornaments at the top corners of the backrest and ornate applique details on the front apron and feet; the upholstery shows floral and scroll motifs in lighter magenta against the darker burgundy background, and a narrow band of yellow-gold fabric runs along the outer side of the chair back.
