Double-sided gingerbread mould with different representations on both sides, maker inscribed Glauer woodcarver or gingerbread maker, gingerbread, woodcarving, decorative/applied folk art, genre and figurative scenes, Silesia, 1828. Double-sided rectangular mould: one side with four images—a baby in swaddling clothes and a fish top and two standing figures at the bottom: a man and a woman in rural folk costumes woman in a long dress holding a handbag; man with a hat and pipe, left hand resting on a shovel. Reverse side: twelve images in a rectangular frame depicting a house; a temple with a colonnade; a bird among trees; a beehive against a forest background; a pedestal or altar among trees; a room, with a chair; a military guard in front of a tent with trees in the background; chickens pecking for food; a heart in a wreath; a cupid and scales; a lamb in a meadow; and agricultural tools. Signature Glauer carved on the edge, followed by the date j.1828. Dimensions: height 28.5 cm, width 10 cm, depth 3.3 cm., A narrow vertical wooden beam with a weathered brown surface is centered against a smooth light gray background, showing worn edges and a few small dents and scratches along its length. The wood has areas of lighter and darker brown tones, with scuffed ends and a slightly rough top edge. There is a carved decorative groove running diagonally across the beam, and the carved area appears darker than the surrounding wood. The overall scene contains the colors brown and gray.
