Double-sided gingerbread mould with the image of a rider on both sides, woodcarver or gingerbread maker; gingerbread mould; figurative scenes of riders and male figures on horses; plant motifs and folk-style decorations; applied decorative art; Silesia Province of Silesia, 1742–1918. Double-sided rectangular mould: one side shows a rider-trumpeter in a tricorn hat in 17th–18th-century costume long caftan, breeches, long boots seated on a horse with decorative tack, both on a base with plant and geometric ornament; reverse shows another rider probably a hussar wearing a high mirliton cap and a fur-lined jacket, with geometric and floral ornament at the bottom. One edge engraved with the date 1797 and a central mark of the letter S against an anchor mark of the woodcarver or owner of the mould. Date: 1797. Type: mould. Dimensions: height 19 cm, width 15 cm, depth 5.5 cm., A rectangular wooden panel with a carved relief of a person riding a horse; the panel is mostly brown with darker brown carved areas and lighter brown worn spots, set against a pale gray background. The carved figure wears a hat and appears to hold a long object to their mouth while seated on a horse with a detailed mane and tail; the horse stands on a decorated base with floral and rope-like carved patterns. The wood shows scratches, cracks, and areas of wear, and the overall colors visible are shades of brown, dark brown, and gray.
