Double-sided gingerbread form. Side A: female figure; Side B: baby in swaddling clothes. Maker unknown woodcarver or gingerbread maker. Gingerbread, decorative/applied folk art; Silesian Province of Silesia, 1742–1918. Rectangular form: one side shows a standing woman with a headscarf, leaning on a ladder and holding a broom; the other shows a swaddled baby decorated with a geometric ornament. On one edge the date 1830 is engraved with the letter S against an anchor background and below it the letter M mark of the maker. Date: 1830. Materials: gingerbread form wood. Dimensions: height 13.5 cm, width 6.5 cm, depth 4.5 cm., A vertically oriented rectangular block of wood with a dark brown surface showing a vertical seam near the top and worn edges, featuring a few shallow carved indentations and scratches across its face, with small round holes visible and areas of lighter brown wear; the background is a uniform light gray.
