Double-sided gingerbread mould. Rectangular shape, height 25.8 cm, width 19.4 cm, depth 4.3 cm. Obverse: image of a rider on horseback in early 19th-century riding attire jacket, breeches, top hat, holding a riding crop; at the horse's front legs a round shield engraved 1831 and an anchor intertwined with the letter S mark of the woodcarver or owner; bottom floral and plant ornament. Reverse: stylised lion with abundant mane standing on a base decorated with plant twigs, holding a ball engraved 1829 and the same anchor entwined with S; bottom floral and plant decoration. Materials/function: carved gingerbread mould; motifs include figurative scenes, lions, horse, historical costumes, and plant motifs. Region/date: Silesia, Province of Silesia 1742–1918; dates on mould: 1829 and 1831., A rectangular wooden block in brown tones rests on a smooth pale gray surface; the top face of the block features a carved raised design of an animal-like figure with a mane and curled tail plus decorative carved detailing along its base, and the block shows natural wood grain and slightly rounded edges with subtle variations of darker and lighter brown.
