Double-sided gingerbread mould. One obverse: genre scene of a man standing by a washtub washing, behind him a woman holding a baby in swaddling clothes; below a plaque with an inscription in German; made in Schwabach. Reverse: three motifs — bottom left, a rider in a hat on a horse; above him a rectangular recess containing a second rectangle with the letters I and B carved, surrounded by geometric and plant ornaments; right side, a tripartite rectangular recess with a vertical strip of floral decoration in each segment; above it carved initials A and H. Materials: gingerbread mould wood. Iconography: genre scenes, babies, children, rider on a horse, floral motifs, plant motifs, social satire. Date: 18th–19th century. Place: Province of Silesia 1742–1918. Form dimensions: rectangular; height 24.7 cm, width 16.8 cm, depth 4.2 cm., A rectangular carved wooden panel with a brown surface shows a carved scene and decorative patterns; on the left a framed recessed panel sits above a carved figure wearing a hat and riding a horse with carved foliage at the horse’s feet, while the right side features vertical columns of carved floral rosettes and starburst motifs, with areas of surface wear and small holes and roughened edges; the wood displays variations of brown tones and darker brown weathered patches.
