Wooden tankard, carved, probably a peg tankard, religious scenes, Gospel scenes, Resurrection of Christ iconography, inscriptions, vessels, Passion Bible; New Testament, human figures, figurative motifs, decorative art. Wooden pear-shaped tankard, so-called peg tankard, round, richly decorated with bas-reliefs depicting Passion scenes, with a Resurrection scene on the lid. The lid rim and handle are decorated with plant motifs and masks, and studded with ivory pins. In the center is a row of vertically driven metal pegs placed at regular intervals the top two are missing. 17th century, Scandinavia, vessel; height 23.5 cm, width 20.5 cm., A round carved wooden container with a lid sits against a plain light gray background; the container is dark brown with detailed relief carvings of human figures and ornamental patterns all around its sides, and the lid has carved decorative elements rising from its center and a ring of small pale beads around the top edge; the lighting creates soft shadows on the gray surface beneath and behind the object.
