Kontusz sash; Five-part heads with an ornament of stylized, inverted floral bouquets alternating with transverse stripes bearing small Persian palmettes, floral tendrils, and a fine wavy pattern. Silk fringe. Predominant colors: light yellow, brick red, brown, and sapphire blue. 18th century, Russia; national costume accessory. Length 331 cm, width 64.5 cm. Materials: silk., A woven textile with horizontal bands of repeating floral and geometric motifs in colors including beige, brown, blue, green, and muted orange; the top and middle sections show several narrow stripes filled with alternating flower shapes and small leaf-like patterns in brown and blue on a beige background; below these are a few bands with larger floral clusters in brown and muted orange set against pale greenish-beige fields; near the bottom is a wider area with repeated stylized tree-like floral arrangements in dark brown with orange flower centers on a light beige ground, and the lower edge has a decorative woven fringe and a narrow border of small floral motifs in blue and orange.
