Silk kontusz sash, four-sided, c. 1787–1794. Likely made by Szczepan Filsjean Manufactory Kobylka. Bipartite ends each with a bouquet motif of rooted carnations tied with a ribbon. Field in transverse stripes alternating plain or two-coloured with fine floral tendrils; trim with small flowers. Borders vertical and horizontal with twig motifs and checkerboard. Sewn-on silk fringe. Colors: cream, brown, yellow-green, sky blue, dark red; right side: cream background of heads, borders and shelves with tendril, brown ornament; plain shelves half pink, half yellow-green; reverse: plain shelves half sky blue, half dark red. Weave density approx. 17/39 x2. Length 357 cm, width 32 cm. Origin: Kobylka, Masovian Voivodeship, Poland., Two long narrow textile panels hang side by side, each showing horizontal bands and floral motifs with fringed ends. The left panel features alternating horizontal stripes in shades of pale yellow and beige with narrow decorative bands in muted pink and dark brown, and a lower section with floral designs in soft pink and brown on a light beige background; its fringe is a pale golden color. The right panel displays alternating horizontal stripes in shades of pink and light blue with decorative bands in pale pink and dark brown, and a lower section with floral motifs in pink and dark brown on a darker pinkish-beige ground; its fringe is also pale golden. Both panels have worn edges and areas of faded color, with visible weave texture and delicate ornamental borders in pink tones.
