Women's slippers. Maker: Józef Marczewski, shoemaker's workshop, ca. 1830–ca. 1840. Flat women's slippers of white satin with flat-cut toe and symmetrical thin-leather soles. Lining: endpaper and back in white glacé leather, front in white canvas. Endpaper bears an octagonal elongated company label printed in green: Józef Marczewski / in Warsaw / at Dluga Street / No. 543. Date: 1836, place of origin: Warsaw. Materials: satin, leather, canvas. Dimensions: height 5.2 cm, length 23.5 cm. Function: footwear, women's fashion accessory., A pair of small, worn fabric shoe covers sit side by side on a plain light gray background; the covers are off-white to beige in color with areas of darker staining and fraying, uneven edges, and creased, wrinkled surfaces, and the inner linings visible in places show slightly different lighter beige tones, while the soles appear to be a muted tan.
