Flat women's slippers of white satin. Flat-cut toe, symmetrical soles of thin leather. The endpaper and back of the lining are made of white glacé leather, while the front is made of white canvas. On the endpaper there is an octagonal, elongated company label printed in green with the inscription: Józef Marczewski / in Warsaw / at Dluga Street / No. 543. Maker: Józef Marczewski Warsaw, shoemaker's workshop, ca. 1830–ca. 1840. Date: 1836. Place of origin: Warsaw. Function: women's footwear slippers, fashion accessory. Dimensions: height 5.2 cm, length 23.5 cm., A pair of worn fabric shoes placed side by side on a plain light gray background, one shoe showing a heavily tattered and discolored upper with frayed edges and a dirty interior, and the other shoe appearing less damaged with a cleaner interior and a small decorative label visible on the insole; the shoes display colors including off-white, beige, tan, gray, and hints of brown and yellow from stains and wear, and there is a small rectangular scrap of fabric or paper near the shoes in a muted beige tone.
