Flat women's slippers of white satin, top edge finished with ribbon. Flat-cut toes, symmetrical leather soles. Endpaper and back lining of white leather, front lining of canvas. On the endpaper of both slippers there is an octagonal, oblong company label: Jan Kólazenski / in Kalisz / at Market Square No. 18. Maker: Jan Kólazenski Kalisz; shoemaker's workshop; ca. 1830–ca. 1850. 1830–1850. Place of origin: Kalisz. Materials: satin, leather, canvas. Function: women's footwear slippers. Dimensions: height 6 cm, length 23.7 cm., A pair of worn shoes shown from the soles, laid side by side on a plain light gray background; the shoe uppers are a pale ivory or off-white fabric with some fraying at the edges, and the soles are a brown leather with darker scuff marks and patches of discoloration; there are a few small dark smudges and worn areas on the soles and slightly uneven edges where the fabric meets the sole.
