Women’s slippers. Maker: Johann Dyck, shoemaker’s workshop, Vilnius; ca. 1800–ca. 1850. Flat women’s slippers made of white full-grain leather with flat-cut toes, decorated with a rosette of white grosgrain ribbon one rosette preserved. Symmetrical leather soles. White canvas lining and endpaper. A printed company label is glued onto the endpaper of one slipper: “Johann / Dyck / …auf der / Schloss-strase / nr … in / VILNIUS.” 1st half of the 19th century. Materials: leather, grosgrain ribbon, canvas. Dimensions: height 6 cm, length 24 cm., A single flat shoe is shown from a side view resting on a plain gray background, made of a light cream or off-white material with visible wear and slight discoloration; the upper has a soft, wrinkled texture and a few small darker spots, and the interior lining appears frayed and stained with brownish marks; the toe area is pointed and decorated with a small folded fabric detail in a similar cream color, and the sole edge is a darker brown.
