Slippers, origin unknown, haberdashery decorations; women's footwear with lining of the upper and sole made of pink striped canvas. Illegible rectangular stamp on the lining. Machine sewing supplemented by hand. Leather sole, semicircular under the heel, tapering sharply towards the toe to form a point. Under the heel a second layer of leather is nailed with metal nails. 19th century, China. Height 5.3 cm, length 17 cm., A pair of worn slip-on shoes made of tan leather with darker brown scuffing and decorative stitched patterns, trimmed with black fabric around the openings and edges, showing a striped textile lining in shades of red and beige, with flattened soles that are darker brown.
