Kontusz sash. Semi-solid, four-sided sash with plant and flower-bush ornament; bipartite heads with a motif of a stylised flower tree growing from a miniature mound. One side: white and brown background with brown heads; other side: blue, crimson and gold heads. Pattern on the gold heads is multicolored; on the brown heads is off-white. Signed at the bottom of the heads, lying down, FS. 18th century, Lyon. Polish sash used with national costume; men's fashion accessory. Length 294 cm, width 30 cm., Two long vertical woven panels hang side by side against a pale background. The left panel has a light beige ground with horizontal bands of alternating pastel pink and blue, narrow decorative floral bands in green and cream, a lower section featuring stylized bouquets in pale pink, blue, yellow, and green, and a fringed bottom of golden threads. The right panel has a darker brown background with similar horizontal striped sections in cream and brown, decorative floral bands in cream and green, a lower section with floral motifs in pale pink, blue, yellow, and green, and a matching golden fringe at the bottom. The overall color palette includes beige, brown, cream, pastel pink, blue, yellow, green, and gold.
