Kontusz belt, PC Salzhüber Manufactory Gdansk; belt manufacturer; ca. 1775–1800. Single heads with three tall stylized trees and cactus bushes between them; at the upper edge of the heads motifs of a suspended flower garland and cords with tassels. Alternating transverse stripes, plain and with floral tendrils; floral tendril edging. Gold fringe sewn on. Colors: straw, brown, cream, sky blue, crimson-pink. Before 1793. Gdansk place of origin. Clothing accessory, national costume; length 343 cm, width 32.5 cm., Two long vertical textile panels are shown side by side against a pale background. Each panel has alternating horizontal bands with floral motifs and solid stripes, framed by narrow decorative borders. The left panel features a darker palette with muted green and deep brown bands and gold floral patterns, ending in a rectangular section with stylized floral and leafy designs above a fringe of long tassels in brownish-gray. The right panel displays lighter beige and tan tones with brown floral motifs and a similar lower rectangular section with stylized plants above a fringe of long tassels in a grayish-brown color. Both panels show areas of wear and slight discoloration, and both fringes hang loosely with visible individual threads.
